Sue Monk Kidd, la scrittrice statunitense il cui primo romanzo “The Secret Life of Bees” (2004) rimase più di ottanta settimane nella lista dei bestseller del New York Times, vendendo più di tre milioni di copie, e trasformandosi in un fenomeno editoriale unico, nel suo secondo romanzo, “The Mermaid Chair”, proprio al paragrafo conclusivo della Author’s Note,  dice: “Finally, I would like to ackowledge a book that became my companion as I immersed myself in the symbolism, mythology, art, and history of mermaids: Sirens by Meri Lao.”
